In the Orenburg region, the flood situation remains difficult. Water continues to flow into the Ural River and its tributaries. Over the past day, the water level in the city of Orsk, which was most affected by the disaster, rose by 28 centimeters, and in the whole region, the water level rose from 11 to 65 centimeters. According to the local authorities, more than six thousand residential houses were flooded in the region. Power supply was disrupted in more than eight thousand homes.

In some areas of the Orsk, water reaches the windows of the first floors, people move around the garden on boats.

In the regional center, Orenburg, 1,784 plots of land were flooded. Another 1,374 households were flooded. More than 400 people have been evacuated from the city, operational services are preparing for further evacuation of residents. “The flood situation is developing according to the worst-case scenario,” reports TASS with reference to regional authorities. However, according to the Ministry of Emergencies, there are enough forces and means to deal with a natural disaster in the region.

On Sunday morning, the head of the Ministry of Emergency Situations Alexander Kurenkov flew to Orenburg. In a report to him, the deputy head of the department, Ilya Denisov, assessed the situation as “complicated”.

In addition to flooding residential areas, flooding can cause diseases due to drinking water contamination. According to RBC, 18 residents of the region were forced to consult doctors with intestinal infections.
