Sergei Mileyko, the former deputy director of the Russian Guard, was transferred from the penal colony to Moscow to face a new charge. According to the prosecutor’s office, he participated in frauds with the purchase of uniforms for guardsmen. The damage caused to Mileyko is estimated at more than 388 million rubles. Currently, Mileyko is already serving time on the previous charge – fraud with government real estate.
Former lieutenant general Sergey Mileyko in the Roshvardiya was in charge of logistics issues. In July 2021, he was sentenced to six years in prison for real estate fraud, fined 600,000 rubles and stripped of his rank. According to the evidence of the investigation, Mileyko and his family, using forged documents, took possession of a room in a house that was built for families of military personnel.
According to the new accusation, in 2017-2018, Mileyko bought uniforms for the Russian Guard at inflated prices, presenting them to his superiors as mid-market uniforms. Mileyko made Spetschweisnab the sole supplier of clothing for the Russian Guard, with which he shared the profits.
As “Kommersant” reports, the Russian Guard under the leadership of Mileyko bought 25 thousand vests for 9.7 million rubles – according to the investigation, their cost was exaggerated almost twice. The price of 63 thousand caps, for which almost 25 million rubles were paid, turned out to be inflated by 3.5 million, and 28 thousand caps under the contract for 21.8 million rubles – by eight million.
Then, according to the investigation, there were purchases of soap, belts, winter and summer uniforms, gloves and other clothing at inflated prices.
- Sergey Mileyko was dismissed in July 2019. In October 2020, he was detained and arrested on charges of large-scale personal fraud.
- Mileyko’s defense insists on the absurdity of the accused, arguing that the markup for the purchase of uniforms did not exceed 1% and does not contradict the law.
