The former editor-in-chief of “BlogSocha” was beaten in the Irkutsk colony

The former editor-in-chief of the “BlogSochi” publication Alexander Valov was beaten in colony No. 14 of the Irkutsk region. This was reported by his lawyer Mikhail Benyash in his Telegram channel.

Valov told the lawyer about the beating at the meeting, where he was assigned administrative supervision after his release. It is not specified who and when the journalist was beaten. In fact, Benyash sent several complaints and a request to correctional colony No. 14 of the Irkutsk region: the defender asked to provide him with documents about Valov’s disciplinary sanctions.

In the response of the IK-14 administration, it is reported that he was transferred to another colony “for treatment” on a personal basis. “And here the question arises: what is the reason for undergoing treatment?” – wrote the lawyer. Valova staged in IK-6 of the Irkutsk Region.

• In 2018, Valov was sentenced to six years in prison and a fine of 700,000 rubles in a case of extortion from a member of the State Duma from the LDPR, Yury Napso. According to the indictment, the journalist demanded 300,000 rubles from NAPSO: in exchange, he allegedly promised to remove from the “BlogSochi” portal articles about the deputy’s ownership of a swimming pool on the Sochi public beach.
• Earlier it became clear that the FSB was listening to Valov’s phone and reading his mail. The defense found the relevant court resolution in the criminal case materials. In the court’s decision, allowing the security forces to listen to Valov, it is said that he is a participant in protest actions and in his public statements there are signs of calls for extremist activity.
