The former expert of the Ministry of Justice and his wife were re-arrested in absentia

The court in Moscow re-arrested in absentia the former employees of the forensic examination center under the Ministry of Justice in Stavropol, the spouses Denis and Maria Mamedovy. This time in the case of aiding terrorism. Mediazona drew attention to the cards in the database of Moscow courts.

What became the reason for new criminal cases against the Mamedovs is unknown.

In October 2023, Mamedovs were arrested in absentia on charges of “fakes” and declared wanted. On April 12, a court in Moscow sentenced the former Stavropol expert of the Ministry of Justice in absentia to 8.5 years in prison for sending anti-war letters. The case against Maria Mamedova is still under consideration.

The Mammadovs left Russia in October 2022 after the announcement of the mobilization of Russians for the war with Ukraine. While in exile, the Mamedovs began to actively speak out against the war with Ukraine on social networks, and also sent anti-war letters to all Russian laboratories and centers of forensic examination. In addition, they wrote more than 35 complaints to the authorities with the demand to stop the war and bring the President of Russia Vladimir Putin to justice.

After that, Maria’s accounts in “VKontakte” and “Odnoklassniki” were blocked at the request of the Prosecutor General’s Office. Mamedov’s colleagues, who received anti-war letters, turned to the security department. The state authorities replied that they could bring the Mammadovs themselves to justice – for the rehabilitation of Nazism, extremism and “discrediting” of the Russian army.

Now the spouses are in the process of obtaining US citizenship.
