The FSB detained a general and a customs colonel in a bribery case

Two high-ranking employees of the Federal Customs Service (FTS) of Russia have been detained in Moscow on suspicion of receiving bribes. The press service of the Federal Security Service confirmed the fact of their detention.
As TASS reports with reference to sources in law enforcement agencies, one of the detainees was the deputy head of the Central Customs Administration (CTU), General Alexander Beglov. In addition to him, Colonel Alexander Aleyev, who heads the specialized customs post of the Central Excise Customs, was detained.
As reported by REN TV, the general and colonel of the Federal Security Service met with two businessmen who brought with them 50 thousand dollars (3.8 million rubles). At the time of handing over the money, all four were detained. It is not yet known what services the customs officers received money for.
The homes and workplaces of the detainees were searched. An RBC source familiar with the investigation materials confirmed that a bribery case was opened against Beglov and Aleev. During the searches conducted by FSB officers, more than 40 million rubles were seized from them, as well as documents, information media and expensive items, in particular, watches.
In the near future, the question of selecting a measure of suppression will be resolved, writes TASS.
- Beglov has been serving in the customs authorities since 2001. He became the deputy head of the Central Customs Administration – the head of the federal customs revenue service in October 2015.
