The FSB of Russia did not find a reason to respond to the murders and abductions of Russian citizens in Israel by the radical Hamas group. The municipal deputy from St. Petersburg Sergey Samusev received such an answer to his request, reports “We can explain”.

At the end of October, Samusev addressed FSB director Alexander Bortnikov and head of the Investigative Committee Alexander Bastrykin. In an official appeal, he demanded to investigate the actions of the Hamas group, recognized as a terrorist group in the United States and the European Union, in relation to the killed and taken hostage Russian citizens, and qualify them as a terrorist attack. He noted that a positive decision would also allow the Prosecutor General’s Office to start the procedure of recognizing Hamas in Russia as a terrorist organization.

In the FSB’s response to Samusev on November 9, it was stated that “reasonable response measures for adoption by the federal security services are currently not available.”

During the Hamas attack on southern Israel on October 7, 19 Russian citizens were killed. At least eight were taken hostage, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs does not specify the exact number. It is known that among the hostages is a whole family, one of whose members was killed.

Commenting on the events of October 7 in Israel, the press secretary of the President of Russia, Dmitry Peskov, said that Russia “condemns manifestations of terrorism.” At the same time, Hamas is not recognized as a terrorist organization in Russia.
