The Cabinet of Ministers approved the Energy Strategy of Ukraine until 2050. This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Energy in the Telegram channel.

What does this mean?
The approved document reflects the goals of the European Green Course and is based on the principles of an integrated approach to the formation and implementation of energy policy.
According to the head of the ministry Herman Galushchenko, the goals stipulated in the strategy are planned to be achieved through the development of nuclear generation, renewable energy sources, modernization and automation of transmission and distribution systems.
The Strategy, in particular, takes into account:
- the consequences of the full-scale war of the Russian Federation against Ukraine; strengthening the role of energy security and strengthening the stability of the energy system;
- the results of joining the UES of Ukraine to the European network of operators of the electricity transmission system (ENTSO-E) and deepening the integration of the energy system of Ukraine into the European one;
- the presence of the latest technologies (in particular, the production and use of hydrogen for energy purposes, small modular nuclear reactors, energy storage facilities, etc.), technical changes in the energy sector, world trends and innovative solutions, requirements for environmental safety in accordance with norms EU and the accepted commitment of Ukraine;
- international obligations of Ukraine on energy efficiency and renewable energy use, reduction of greenhouse gas emissions;
- decentralization of electricity generation throughout the country to improve the stability and reliability of energy supply.
The strategy assumes that Ukraine will achieve carbon neutrality in the energy sector by 2050.
