The head of the French LVMH group, Bernard Arnault, topped the annual ranking of the world’s richest people according to Forbes. The businessman’s fortune is estimated at 211 billion dollars.
The second place in the rating was taken by the owner of Tesla, Elon Musk, with a fortune of 180 billion dollars. Amazon founder Jeff Bezos closes the top three. His fortune is estimated at 114 billion dollars.
Musk topped the Forbes list last year. His fortune was then estimated at 219 billion dollars. Arno was in third place.
LVMH – produces luxury goods under the brands Christian Dior, Louis Vuitton, Givenchy, Guerlain, Moët & Chandon, Hennessy and others – a total of 75 brands.
According to Forbes, Andrey Melnychenko, the owner of Evrochem, became the richest Russian with a fortune of more than 25 billion dollars. In second place is the owner of “Norilsk Nickel” Vladimir Potanin. His fortune is estimated at almost 24 billion dollars. In third place is the owner of NLMK, Vladimir Lysyn, with a fortune of slightly more than 22 billion dollars. All three are under Western sanctions.
In total, 110 Russians are represented on the Forbes list – 22 more than last year, but less than in 2021. Then Russia was represented by 123 businessmen.
The total wealth of Russian billionaires grew from last year’s 353 billion dollars to 505 billion dollars. In 2022, the rating was compiled during a period of severe panic on the markets caused by the start of Russia’s war with Ukraine. Shares of many companies collapsed, and businessmen transferred their assets to relatives.
In 2021, the fortune of Russian billionaires was estimated at 606 billion dollars.
