In the Stavropol region, Svetlana Shelar, the head of Kindergarten No. 21 “Lastochka” in the village of Donskaya Balka, was fired for criticizing the war in Ukraine. This was reported by State Duma deputy Alexander Khinshtein.

According to him, the situation “was resolved after the personal intervention of the governor of the Stavropol Territory, Vladimir Vladimirov.” Her activities are being checked by law enforcement officers, deputy Khinshtein added. “If it turns out that local officials covered it up – they won’t say hello!”, he threatened.

Employees of the institution and parents wrote a denunciation of the head of the kindergarten because of her words about a villager who died during the war in Ukraine. After that, residents of Donskaya Balka began to collect signatures for the dismissal of Shelar from kindergarten. Soon this petition was published by the Telegram channel “Mash”. The post stated that Shelar is from Ukraine and, according to her parents, she had mentioned a couple of times that her sons were fighting on the side of the Ukrainian Armed Forces. After that, the regional authorities drew attention to the head of the kindergarten.

On August 19, the head of the Petrovsky District District, Natalya Konkina, said that law enforcement agencies had conducted an investigation against Shelar, however, grounds for initiating a case of an administrative offense had not been found.

Shelar herself did not comment on the situation.
