The head of the license department of “Kinopoyska” was sued for “LGBT propaganda”

A lawsuit was filed against the head of the licensing department of “Kinopoiska” Mykola Buts under the administrative article on LGBT propaganda. This is reported by Sever.Realii.
The lawsuit against Buts was filed in the Tagansky Court of Moscow from the Roskomnadzor branch for the Central Federal District in the fall of 2023. In October, a decision was made to impose an administrative penalty, but an employee of “Kinopoiska” filed an appeal, the consideration of which was postponed until March 25.
Buts was unable to explain to the Sever.Realii correspondent what Roskomnadzor’s lawsuit was about, and sent him to the Yandex press service for comments. At the time of publication of the note, no response was received.
Based on the wording of the law, the plaintiff presumably believes that Nikolay Buts allowed some information to be disseminated among children, which “demonstrates non-traditional sexual relations, or is capable of causing children to want to change sex.” For this, he faces a fine of 100 to 200 thousand rubles.
In the summer of 2023, the Zamoskvoretskyi court of Moscow imposed two fines of one million rubles on “Kinopoyska” for showing LGBT scenes in films without proper marking. The first fine was received by the cinema for the films “Doctor You and His Women”, “Little Italy”, “Alexander”, “Love, Love, Love”. The second – for the films “Rimskie rasstavaniya” and “Zils-Maria”.
The company then explained that they appealed the decision. “Kinopoysk” noted that, first of all, it does not have the technical ability to issue a subscription to minors, and the RKN has no evidence of children watching films. Secondly, the streaming service itself does not put a mark on the video, but is guided by the classification of the Ministry of Culture, which at that time had the mark “16+”.
In early July, “Kinopoysk” received a fine of one million rubles for the films “Bridget Jones’s Diary”, “Greed”, “The English Barber”, “Ideal Strangers”.
