In Moscow, an issue of the newspaper “Sobesednyk” with material on the life of Alexei Navalny and his portrait on the front page was withdrawn from sale.
As Elena Milchanovskaya, a journalist of the publication, said, the newspaper lost about 300,000 rubles, which, according to her, is “huge money” for the editorial office.
“We don’t know why the number was confiscated: we didn’t break any laws,” Milchanovskaya added, emphasizing that “all this is very serious” and “a little scary” for editorial staff.
The day before, the Russian weekly newspaper “Sobesednyk” placed a portrait of Alexei Navalny on the front page of its latest issue. The photograph of the deceased politician was accompanied by the caption: “…but there is hope!”
Inside the newspaper, the entire first page was dedicated to Navalny. The material talked about his biography, the loudest investigations and street actions. The comments given after Navalny’s death by one of the founders of Novaya Gazeta, Nobel laureate Dmitry Muratov, journalist Nikolai Svanidze and musician Andrey Makarevich were also cited.
