In Moscow, a military court sentenced 60-year-old Kaliningrad resident Andrey Galchevsky to 11 years in prison, finding him guilty of treason and inciting terrorism. This is reported by TASS with reference to the press service of the Second Western District Military Court.
According to the court’s version, Galchevskiy asked to join the Foreign Legion of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, and also called for the murder of Russian military commissars on social networks. TASS claims that Halchevsky also has Israeli citizenship. He was engaged in business.
Halchevsky himself said that he did not plan to enter Ukraine and join the Legion of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, “but intended to perform the rite of baptism in the Mormon church in Vilnius.” He partially admitted his guilt, emphasized that he posted the comment on social networks “stupidly”.
In addition to the prison term, the military court imposed a fine of 400,000 rubles on Andrey Galchevsky. He appealed the sentence.
In October 2022, the court arrested Halchevsky for 10 days in an administrative case of petty hooliganism. According to police officers, he used obscenities at the entrance to the Baltika stadium.
