On October 6, a notification appeared on the website of the Security Service of Ukraine and the General Prosecutor’s Office of Ukraine “seizure of assets of 20 Ukrainian companies for a total amount of over UAH 17 billion.
These are securities and corporate rights of mobile operators, mineral water producers, financial and insurance companies, as well as other domestic enterprises.”
In a number of mass media there were reports about the “seizure of 100% of the assets of Kyivstar”, which is not true, because in fact it is only about corporate rights, which does not affect the company’s operational activities.
So far, neither VEON nor “Kyivstar” have received any official notifications from the Ukrainian authorities and courts. VEON, a company headquartered in Amsterdam, listed on the Nasdaq and Euronext exchanges in Amsterdam and with an international investor base, remains the legal owner of Kyivstar.
With the full support of VEON, “Kyivstar” continues to focus on serving 24 million subscribers, conducts business as usual and directs its efforts to support the Ukrainian economy.
In addition, we remind you that the sanctioned persons are not the ultimate beneficial owners of Kyivstar, but own minority shares, which do not give the opportunity to exert a decisive influence on the management or economic activity of Kyivstar, and do not receive dividends from the company’s activities.
The Kyivstar company operates as usual, provides 24 million subscribers with high-quality digital electronic communication services, and is a reliable partner of the state and society, paying only during the full-scale invasion more than UAH 15 billion in taxes and fees, as well as UAH 1.4 billion in aid for overcoming the consequences of war and approaching victory.
The company’s plans for investments in Ukraine in the amount of 600 million US dollars in the next few years are stable and unchanged and will be implemented.
