The Russian Ministry of Culture refused a distribution certificate for the new film by the British director Guy Richa “Ministry of Ungentlemanly Affairs”.

As reported by “Vedomosti”, the basis was the clause of the rules for issuing a rental certificate, according to which the Ministry of Culture can refuse it if a film “with a similar theme or designed for the same target audience” is already scheduled to be released on the selected date.

Guy Richa’s picture about the “impertinent mission against the Nazis” in Great Britain in 1942 was supposed to be released in Russia on April 25, however, on this date, according to “Vedomosti”, the Ministry of Culture issued a distribution certificate to the Russian film “Dungeon”, which takes place in 1941. The publication notes that the producer of “Blindage” Vladimir Permyakov, speaking at the end of March at the “Russian Cinema Business 2024” forum, stated that “only one big movie will be released on Victory Day – Russian, not foreign.”

In turn, the publication “Meduza” reports that the distributor “will have the opportunity to release Richa’s new film after May 9”, and that the Russian Ministry of Culture has been practicing “cleaning May holidays from foreign releases” since 2015.
