The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia has declared the journalist and writer Mikhail Zygar wanted. Mediazona, in particular, wrote about this on Tuesday. The publication notes that it drew attention to the wanted card in the ministry’s database.

According to this information, Zygar is wanted on criminal charges. It is not specified why a criminal case was opened against him.

In mid-March, the RIA Novosti agency, citing a source in the law enforcement agencies, reported that the Investigative Committee opened a criminal case against the former editor-in-chief of the Dozhd TV channel, Zygar, based on the article about the so-called fakes about the army.

The Telegram channel Shot and the current editor-in-chief of “Dozhdya” Tikhon Dzyadko also wrote about the criminal case against Zygar. He asserted, without citing the source, that the case was initiated “as in most cases – for the publication of the crimes of the Russian army in Buche.” Zygar himself did not comment on the message.

At the end of March, the Pskov city court refused to consider the administrative protocol on the “discrediting” of the army drawn up by Zyhar. It is not known what exactly became the reason for it, writes “Mediazona”.

  • Mikhail Zyhar now lives abroad. He actively opposes the Russian invasion of Ukraine, and also participates in discussions about the possible future of Russia. In 2022, the Russian Ministry of Justice declared Zygar a “foreign agent.”
