Ural Airlines will not repair the engines of the Airbus plane, which made an emergency landing in a field in the Novosibirsk region on September 12. It follows from the company’s message that the plane will not be taken away from the landing site, but after the completion of the necessary procedures will be lifted into the air directly from the field to be delivered to the airfield.

“Baroscopy studies have shown that the engines will not require restorative repair,” the message says. The flow part of the engine, as the airline claims, is cleaned of soil and straw.

“Several variants of the plane taking off from the field are being considered,” the message said. In particular, the seats in the cabin may be dismantled to lighten the weight of the liner.

The take-off of an aircraft of this type directly from the field, outside the runway, is a very unusual procedure.

The liner made an emergency landing on September 12, when it was flying from Sochi to Omsk. The hydraulic system failed the flight, the pilots refused to land in Omsk, and there was not enough fuel to reach Novosibirsk. Landing in the field was successful, 160 people on board were not injured.

A criminal case is being investigated. In contrast to the previous similar case in the practice of “Ural Airlines”, when in 2019 the plane was landed in a corn field shortly after takeoff, this time there is often criticism of the pilots.

The central administration of Rosaviatsia called the emergency landing near Novosibirsk a “serious incident”. This is stated in the recommendations on additional training of pilots in the event of failure of the landing gear cleaning system, which was studied by “Kommersant”. Rosaviatsiya required the management of the airlines that civilian pilots take into account possible changes in weather conditions, deviations from the route and delays, detours, as well as problems in the form of equipment failure or partial depressurization of the cabin when calculating the amount of fuel.

The commander of the crew of the Ural Airlines flight that landed in an emergency, Sergey Belov, previously said that he refused to land in Omsk due to problems with hydraulics, gusty winds and the short length of the landing strip. The decision to make an emergency landing, according to the pilots, was forced. Their critics consider it a mistake to refuse to land in Omsk, and also point to an error in the fuel calculation.

Airbus planes, which are used by Russian airlines, stopped receiving service and spare parts from the manufacturer after Russia started a war in Ukraine and imposed sanctions on the aviation industry. Airlines are partially trying to solve the problem with supplies through the so-called parallel import.
