The police exposed a group of criminals who stole oil from the pipeline in the Chernihiv region and resold it to oil depots and other commercial structures.

About this informs press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine.

The group included residents of Poltava and Chernihiv regions. It was created by two natives of the city of Lubna, previously convicted of similar crimes. As accomplices, they involved former law enforcement officers and residents of two oblasts.

The criminals took the oil by the drip method, which actually does not record the drop in pressure in the pipeline.

In order to hide the traces after each theft, the perpetrators organized the removal of soil from the crime scene. From the place of the “cut-in”, the attackers laid an underground conduit with a total length of about 5 km. On the opposite side, a tank was installed for the accumulation of stolen hydrocarbon raw materials.

The group members used only radio stations for communication, and night vision binoculars and thermal imagers for late night work.

In one “walk”, the attackers stole up to 12 cubic meters of raw materials, which were later sold to oil depots and various commercial structures, and as a result received more than UAH 500,000 in profit.

Currently, the law enforcement officers reported about suspicion of five members of a criminal group.

We remind you:

Law enforcement officers in the Dnipropetrovsk region exposed an underground oil refinery that earned up to 30 million hryvnias per month from fuel fraud. According to sources, the Motto gas station network is involved in the scheme.
