The President of Lithuania Gitanas Nauseda does not rule out that the attack on Leonid Volkov in Vilnius could have happened under the influence of the Kremlin. This was reported by Lithuanian National Radio and Television (LRT).

“There is no doubt that such things are being planned. But I want to make it clear: the authorities will conduct an assessment, investigate and, I hope, find the culprits. And I can tell Putin only one thing – nobody is afraid of you here,” Nauseda said.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Gabrielus Landsbergis, also responded to reports of an attack on a politician.

“The news about the attack on Leonid is shocking. The relevant authorities are working. Criminals will have to answer for their crime,” the minister wrote on X’s social network.

Deputy Commissioner General of Police Saulius Tamulavichyus told LRT that several versions of the crime were put forward. “Now a pre-trial investigation has started, and we are doing everything possible to find out the motives and causes of the crime,” Tamuliavičius said on Wednesday morning. According to him, the attacker has not yet been found.

US Ambassador to Lithuania Kara McDonald said she was shocked by the attack on Volkov. “His steadfastness and courage in the face of recent attempts to silence and intimidate him are inspiring. Navalny’s team continues to openly oppose the Kremlin’s repression and cruelty,” – wrote she is on X social networks.
