The President of Ukraine signed the law on the abolition of limited fitness to serve in the army

The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyi, signed a law abolishing the category of health “limitedly fit” for military service. Citizens who have received such a category will have to undergo a repeated medical examination. Now there will be two main categories: fit and unfit for service, it follows from the text of the document.
The draft law prohibits military chaplains from religious organizations whose “leadership center” is in Russia. The Ukrainian authorities mean by this wording the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, which has the largest number of parishes in the country.
The document expands social guarantees to servicemen and police officers, obliges the commission to investigate sexual harassment in the army to accept male and female representatives, and guarantees military freedom of speech.
On April 2, the President of Ukraine signed another bill concerning service in the army. It reduces the maximum age for mobilization into the army from 27 to 25 years. The document was adopted by deputies on May 30, 2023 and sent for signature in June of the same year.
