The problems with light in Odesa and Kyiv regions will be solved in the coming weeks – Ukrenergo

Despite the fact that there have been no power outages across Ukraine for five days, minor restrictions remain in Odesa and Kyiv regions – their cause should be resolved in a few weeks.

About this stated Chairman of the board of “Ukrenergo” Volodymyr Kudrytskyi, the operator’s press service reported.

The reason for the minor network restrictions is the destruction of the infrastructure, which cannot pass the full amount of electricity needed to cover the consumption. This problem is planned to be fixed in the “coming weeks”.

Kudrytskyi also explained that the situation with electricity supply improved thanks to the work of power engineers, which had a cumulative effect both at substations and at power plants. External factors also had a positive impact: warming led to a decrease in consumption, which became easier to cover with available resources.

However, he emphasized, the situation is still far from being completely stable, because the risks of rocket attacks in the future remain.

“But since winter is coming to an end, time is running out for the Ukrainian energy system. We expect that if there are no new large-scale destructions, the situation will remain stable,” he said.

Considering the improvement of the situation in the Ukrainian energy system, Ukraine is able to cover consumption with its own resources, so the volume of electricity imports has decreased. In the event of an increase in consumption or the impact of other factors that will lead to a shortage of capacity, imports may be resumed.
