The security service gathered evidence and reported the suspicion to the occupying “director” of the Zaporizhia NPP – he ensured that the nuclear power plant was disconnected from the unified energy system of Ukraine.

According to the results of the investigation, the occupation “director” of the Zaporizhzhya NPP Oleg Romanenko was informed of the suspicion. Before that, the Russian was the chief engineer of the Balakovo nuclear power plant in the Saratov region of the Russian Federation.
After the seizure of the ZNPP, Romanenko became the “director” of the “Zaporizka NPP operating organization” created by the occupiers, which is part of the structure of Rosatom.
The investigation established that in the period from March 11 to November last year, he ensured the fulfillment of Moscow’s instructions to disconnect the nuclear power plant from the unified energy system of Ukraine.
In the future, he organized the work of the nuclear power plant in the interests of the occupiers – he incited the workers to support the invaders and cooperate with them. In case of disagreement, he threatened “dismissal” and persecution by the punitive authorities of the Russian Federation.
Romanenko was informed of the suspicion under articles of the Criminal Code about violation of the laws and customs of war and treason committed under martial law. He faces life imprisonment.
