Ukrainian Paralympians take second place at the equator of the World Cross-Country and Biathlon Championships held in Östersund, Sweden. Communicates with reference to the statement of the Ministry of Youth and Sports of Ukraine.
In the middle of the World Championship in cross-country skiing and biathlon, the Ukrainian Paralympic team takes second place in the overall rating.
We already have 17 medals: 4 gold, 5 silver and 8 bronze. Only the German team is ahead (19 awards), and the Canadian team is in third place (9 medals).
Taras Rad (sitting class), Alexander Kazyk (athletes with visual impairments (totally blind); guide Sergey Kucheryavyi), Lyudmila Lyashenko (standing class) won the “Gold” in biathlon, middle distance.
Alexander Kazyk (visual impairment (totally blind)) and ego guide Sergey Kucheryavy became champions in biathlon, sprint, 7.5 km.
The competitions of the world para-championship in cross-country skiing and biathlon will last until January 29 with the participation of athletes from 19 countries. The Ukrainian team is represented by 24 athletes with disabilities.
Biathlete Anastasiya Merkushina won a gold award at the European Championship, which is held in Lenzerheide, Switzerland.
