Former partner of Alisher Usmanov, who is under sanctions, businessman Vasyl Anisimov renounced his Russian citizenship. He became the seventh billionaire to do so after the start of a full-scale war between Russia and Ukraine. Forbes writes about it.

According to the documents provided by the businessman, he left Russian citizenship back in September 2022. At the same time, Anisimov continues to visit Russia, entering on a business visa – the company “Bolshoe Domodedovo” issued him an invitation. Anisimov himself claims that he does not own assets in Russia, and he transferred his former company Coalco and Bolshoe Domodedovo to managers.

Anisimov remains a citizen of Dominica and Croatia. According to reports, he received a Dominican passport in the mid-1990s, the document cost him about 60 thousand dollars. The Croatian passport was obtained by a businessman in 2003. To do this, he invested about 11 million dollars in the country’s real estate. With this money, in particular, they built a sports base on the island of Korčula, where Russian rhythmic gymnasts trained before the war in Ukraine.

Vasyl Anisimov is the founder of “Trustconsult” companies and the development company Coalco International. Forbes estimates his fortune at one billion 600 million dollars. According to the magazine, this is money, mainly obtained from the sale of shares in Mykhailo GOK to Alisher Usmanov and other assets. Anisimov owns business in Kazakhstan and Africa, and in 2022 he started real estate in the UAE.

  • After the start of the full-scale war with Ukraine, at least six billionaires renounced Russian citizenship: the founder of the Itera company Igor Makarov, the founder of the investment company Freedom Finance Timur Turlov, the founder of the DST Global group of funds and the former co-owner of Mail.Ru Group Yury Milner, the founder of Revolut Nikolay Storonsky, former owner of Troika Dialog company Ruben Vardanyan and founder of Tinkoff Bank Oleg Tynkov.
  • About 4,400 people left Russian citizenship in just nine months of 2023, Director of the Consular Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Aleksey Klymov told RIA Novosti in an interview. This is more than in the whole of 2022, when 4,300 people refused their Russian passports, which was a record for a three-year period.
