The State Duma does not see the need for mobilization after the departure of PMC “Wagner”

There is no need for a new mobilization due to the departure of PMC “Wagner” fighters from the zone of military operations in Ukraine “for today and in the near future.” Head of the State Duma Committee on Defense Andrey Kartapolov stated this to TASS.

According to him, there is “something and someone to replace” the mercenaries of PMC “Wagner” in the reserve. Earlier, the State Duma announced that they would no longer take part in the war in Ukraine.

Russian President Vladimir Putin said on June 13 that there is no need for mobilization, however, for another reason. At a meeting with bloggers, authors of telegram channels and military correspondents of the Russian mass media According to Putin, its necessity depends on the goals. “Our troops were in Kiev, do we need to return there or not?” Putin asked a rhetorical question.

After the rebellion, which was organized by the head of the PMC “Wagner”, Yevgeny Prigozhin, Putin offered those “Wagnerians” who “stopped at the last line” to sign a contract with the Ministry of Defense, or return to their families or leave for Belarus. There were reports that camps were already being built there for PMC “Wagner” fighters.

The day before, there were announcements on the channels associated with PMC “Wagner” about the suspension of the recruitment of mercenaries for a month “due to temporary non-participation” in the war with Ukraine and the company’s move to the Republic of Belarus.

After the mutiny of PMC “Wagner” on June 23-24, recruitment points for mercenaries began to close. Billboards with PMC recruitment announcements began to be dismantled from the streets of Russian cities.

The last major operation in Ukraine involving PMC “Wagner” was the storming of Bakhmut, during which Prigozhin’s formation suffered heavy losses.
