The Supreme Court of Russia satisfied the claim of Roskomnadzor and liquidated the news agency “Khakasia”. This is stated on the court’s website.
According to SOTA, the reason for the lawsuit was the lack of the necessary labels in the agency’s materials: in several publications, the editors did not indicate that the Svoboda Rossii Legion, fighting on the side of Ukraine, was recognized as a terrorist organization on the territory of Russia, and also did not add the label “foreign agent” when mentioning soloist of the group “Nogu svelo!” Maxim Pokrovsky.
In a written objection to the Supreme Court, the agency stated that it supports the war in Ukraine and does not support “foreign agents”.
On November 20, 2023, “Khakasia” published material about Nadezhda Uzunova, the head of the regional committee of the families of soldiers of the Fatherland, who met with President Vladimir Putin as “the mother of servicemen participating in the SVO”. Her children, according to journalists, were not in reality in Ukraine: “The sons of Nadezhda are at home in Abakan.”
Soon after that, Khakassia correspondents were not allowed to attend the session of the Supreme Council of Khakassia. Former member of the State Duma from “United Russia”, now the chairman of the Supreme Council of Khakassia, Sergey Sokol, said that the journalists were not allowed due to the lack of “accreditation” and, in his words, “insufficient” qualifications.
“We are unlikely to call AIDS-info and other agencies and mass media here, which, in general, probably have no place here,” said the speaker of the Supreme Council of Khakassia.
In response to the criticism, the news agency issued an editorial statement in which it compared Sokol to “a Varangian wandering from region to region”: “You’re right, temporary difficulty. We’ll survive this inconvenience.”
- Khakassia news agency is one of the oldest in the region, it was founded in 2006.
