The train of the leader of North Korea, Kim Jong-un, is already traveling through the territory of Russia in the direction of Vladivostok. Footage of the train’s arrival in Primorsky Krai was shown by the state television channel “Russia-1”.

It is reported that the North Korean leader’s train crossed the only border crossing of the Russian Railways with the DPRK – the Hasan station – on Tuesday morning in an “atmosphere of absolute secrecy”. In Ussuriysk, the train is replaced by a locomotive crew, after which it heads west along the Transsiberian River, Interfax reports.

Kim Jong Un plans to meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin during the Eastern Economic Forum. Putin has already arrived in Vladivostok, where the forum is taking place. It is not yet known when the meeting will take place.

The press secretary of the Russian president Dmitry Peskov said today that the negotiations will take place in the next few days. Putin and Kim will discuss bilateral cooperation in different areas, “the situation in the region, international affairs,” Peskov said. Peskov did not specify the exact date of the appointed negotiations. When asked where the meeting would take place, he answered: “In the Far East.” A press conference on the results of the meeting is not planned, the press secretary of the Kremlin added.

The South Korean TV channel YTN and the Russian edition of RBC, citing anonymous sources, report that the meeting between Putin and Kim will take place on September 13. Presumably, we are talking about the expansion of military cooperation.

Earlier, The New York Times newspaper reported that Kim plans to receive from Putin more modern technologies for the space industry and submarine fleet and food aid. Russia, as Western intelligence has repeatedly reported, expects to use stocks of Korean ammunition and projectiles, often unified in caliber with Soviet, and therefore Russian, stocks.

The regime in the DPRK is one of two in the world, along with the Syrian one, that openly supported Moscow in the war with Ukraine. Nevertheless, it is difficult for Moscow to receive military aid directly from him. Pyongyang is under the harshest sanctions of the UN Security Council for the development of its nuclear and missile programs, and Russia also voted for their adoption.

Washington is ready to introduce new sanctions if Vladimir Putin and Kim Jong-un agree on the supply of Korean ammunition at the upcoming meeting in Vladivostok, US State Department spokesman Matthew Miller told reporters.
