On Friday, the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine adopted a law on the demobilization of conscripts. 319 people voted for it, deputy Yaroslav Zhelezniak said.
The document provides for the possibility, during the period of martial law in Ukraine, of the release into reserve of servicemen who have served the established terms of military service. In the explanatory note to the draft law, it is noted that this will allow servicemen who have served the established terms of urgent military service in 2024 to be sent to the reserve.
The Committee on National Security included in the final version of the draft law a provision on mandatory postponement of mobilization for conscripts within 12 months after dismissal.
- The Verkhovna Rada is also considering a bill on mobilization submitted by the government. The document, in particular, provides for the mandatory creation by citizens of the conscript’s electronic cabinet and the updating of military registration data in it, the possibility for military enlistment offices to send electronic summonses through the conscript’s cabinet. It is also proposed to lower the conscription age from 27 to 25 years, demobilization will become possible after 36 months of service.
