The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia responded to the sanctions of the European Union with counter-sanctions

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia on Friday expanded its “black list” of persons who are prohibited from entering the country. According to the department’s statement, it was supplemented by representatives of official structures and commercial companies of the European Union, which the Ministry of Foreign Affairs considers responsible for military assistance to Kyiv and for the so-called unfriendly steps towards Russia.
How many people are included in the stop list and who these people are is not specified in the statement of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, it is only indicated that the list has been “substantially expanded”. The document says that representatives of the Council of Europe, members of the legislative assemblies of the countries of the European Union, and members of the Parliamentary Assembly of the OSCE and PACE have become persons non grata.
In addition, the sanctions of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs extend to a number of representatives of European structures, which, according to the agency, “are involved in the prosecution of Russian officials for illegal arrests and deportation of people from Ukrainian territories, are engaged in the creation of a tribunal against the Russian leadership and the collection of relevant materials, advocate the confiscation of Russian state assets or the use of profits from them in the interests of Ukraine, support the introduction of sanctions against Russia, are engaged in spreading disinformation.
The expansion of the “black list” of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs was a response to the 13th package of sanctions against Russia adopted today by the European Union after the beginning of the full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine. As part of the package, in particular, 106 people and 88 companies from Russia, as well as China, India, Kazakhstan, Serbia, Turkey, Thailand, and Sri Lanka were subject to restrictions. The Russian Foreign Ministry called the EU sanctions illegal.
