The World Bank will allocate a grant of 2.5 billion dollars to Ukraine

The World Bank announced on Friday that it will allocate another $2.5 billion aid package to Ukraine. The funds will be used for peaceful purposes: support of vital infrastructure and administrative functions. Financing will be carried out with the support of the American Agency for International Development (USAID).

Earlier, the World Bank already supported warring Ukraine, allocating funds to support health care, schools, pensions, and also to help Ukrainian refugees. The total volume of allocated financing amounted to more than 20 billion dollars.

The President of the World Bank, David Malpass, said that the efforts of his organization managed to help approximately 12 million Ukrainians. He assured that the bank will continue to provide support to Ukraine in the field of reconstruction and restoration of what was destroyed by the war.

Also, on February 24, the International Monetary Fund announced that it was launching a special credit program for Ukraine in the amount of about 15 billion dollars. It should be finally ready by March. According to US Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen, the IMF program will be an addition to the new US aid package in the amount of 10 billion dollars, which is being prepared in Washington.
