two Caucasian republics did not reward Kadyrov’s son

Two republics of the North Caucasus – Adygea and Kabardino-Balkaria – refused to award their awards to the son of the head of Chechnya, Ramzan Kadyrov, Adam. This is reported by the edition “Vyorstka” with reference to sources close to the authorities of these regions. They also claim that the Chechen leadership appealed to the administrations of these and other North Caucasian republics with a request to “support” Kadyrov Jr.

According to the publication’s sources, at least the head of Adygea, Murat Kumpylov, prefers to “remove himself” from too close ties with Chechnya and, in particular, from the story of Adam Kadyrov’s beating of Nikita Zhuravel, who was arrested for burning the Koran in the Grozny pre-trial detention center. They argue that Kadyrov’s support can be “ambiguously evaluated” by the federal center, which did not give a clear assessment of what happened.

• At the end of September, the head of Chechnya, Ramzan Kadyrov, published a video on his Telegram channel, in which his 15-year-old son Adam beats up 19-year-old Nikita Zhuravel, who is in a pre-trial detention center on charges of burning the Koran. Kadyrov Sr. approved these actions.
• On October 6, the leadership of Chechnya awarded Adam Kadyrov the title of Hero of the Chechen Republic. Later, Kadyrov Jr. was awarded the second most important order of Tatarstan “Duslyk” – “for a significant contribution to the strengthening of inter-ethnic and inter-confessional peace and harmony”, as well as the highest order of Karachay-Cherkessia “For services to the republic”.
