The Ukrainian government is considering the possibility of insuring ships and companies that will travel along the “grain corridor”.

This was announced by Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal at the conference of ambassadors of Ukraine on Thursday, Interfax-Ukraine reports.

The Prime Minister noted that the possibility of the state taking on such risks in the Black Sea, following the example of the Danube, is currently being discussed.

“Ukraine, as a state, at the expense of the budget, by the decision of the government, insured all commercial ships that export and import goods through the Danube ports. Now we in the government are discussing and, I am sure, we will make a decision regarding the insurance of ships and relevant companies that will go along the “grain corridor” – said Shmyhal.

However, according to him, even in this case, Ukraine will need the support of its partners.

“Of course, it will work once. We understand that if the Russians sink or blow up a merchant ship, it will enormously complicate our work to attract partners to the “grain corridor”. Therefore, we need the support of partners to prevent this from happening,” he emphasized.

We remind you:

Only for the past day two vessels have already refused to moor at the port of “Izmail” after the attack of the Russian Federation.

On Wednesday nighton August 2, as a result of the Russian attack on the Izmail seaport and the infrastructure of the Ukrainian Danube Shipping Company, 40,000 tons of grain, which was expected by the countries of Africa, China and Israel, were destroyed.
