Ukraine wants to present the development bank project for reconstruction in the “coming months” – Shurma

Ukraine is working with international partners on the formation of a development bank or development fund, this instrument is at the final stage and will be presented in the coming months.

Rostislav Shurma, Deputy Head of the Office of the President, said this in an interview Liga.net.

He believes that for long-term reconstruction, Ukraine needs access to private capital, access to large funds, commercial banks, and investment funds. “Because there are trillions of dollars there, which should become the main source of reconstruction,” Shurma noted and added that the state needs to ensure that these funds come here.

In addition to the fact that the state needs fundamental structural reforms, primarily in the area of the rule of law and anti-corruption, Ukraine must provide a basic channel for financing reconstruction projects.

“That is why we are currently working with our international partners – BlackRock and JP Morgan – on the formation of a development bank or a development fund, which will become the first engine of investment in the first tens or hundreds of projects and which will help open Ukraine to all world business,” says Shurma. “How it will all work, I will tell a little later. I will only say that this tool is at the final stage, and in the coming months it will be presented to hundreds of investors from all over the world and in Ukraine.”
