Ukraine intends to expand the grain deal with Russia, Turkey and the UN. As Reuters reports with reference to a high-ranking Ukrainian official, the country proposes to include the ports of the city of Mykolaiv on the Black Sea and Mykolaiv region in the deal.
It will be about the sea trade port of Nikolaev and the ports of Olbia (formerly Oktyabrsk) and Ochakov, as well as private terminals. The Deputy Minister of Infrastructure of Ukraine Yury Vaskov said that the proposal will be put forward next week during the negotiations on the extension of the deal.
He also said that Ukraine would insist on extending the deal not for 120 days, as before, but for at least an hour, and establishing long-term plans in this area.
In November of last year, the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky made a similar proposal during his address to the G20 countries.
- The representatives of Ukraine, Russia, Turkey and the UN signed the quadrilateral agreement on the export of grain and other goods across the Black Sea on July 22, 2022 in Istanbul. It was concluded for 120 days and extended for the same period last November. The extension period expires on March 18, and by this date negotiations on a new extension and possible changes to the conditions must take place. Now, transportation within the framework of the transaction is carried out from three Ukrainian ports: Odesa, Chernomorsk, and Yuzhny.
