In the schools of the Belgorod region, special classes will be opened in which children will be taught the skills of controlling and working with drones. This was reported by the head of the region, Vyacheslav Gladkov.

The official said that the Ministry of Education of Russia decided to allocate a grant to the Belgorod region “for the creation of infrastructure for unmanned aviation systems.” According to Gladkov, next year, special classes will appear in 17 schools and one college of the region, where they will teach how to work with drones. The governor believes that the demand for the drone operator profession will be very high. Gladkov said that the infrastructure for drones is actively being developed by agricultural enterprises.

Earlier it became known that a new subject may appear in Russian schools from the next academic year – “Fundamentals of Safety and Protection of the Family”. The project of changes in the school curriculum is posted on the official portal of normative acts. The new course should supplement the already existing subject “Fundamentals of Life Safety” (OBJ). Pupils will be introduced to the tactics of joint combat and the use of unmanned aerial vehicles, as well as the statute of military service.

At the beginning of the school year in Belgorod, the windows of the first floors of schools were covered with sandbags, which were supposed to protect them from the effects of artillery and rocket attacks. The rest of the windows were going to be covered with an impact-resistant film.

  • The Belgorod region, which borders Ukraine, is subject to regular shelling. The Russian side accuses Ukraine of them; Ukrainian shelling command does not comment. Local authorities called on residents of border areas to move temporarily. In many districts of the Belgorod region, schoolchildren have been transferred to distance learning.
