The Center for Economic Strategy (CES) invites you to join the round table “VAT and excise duties: how to harmonize taxes with the EU without harming Ukrainian business”.
The event will take place June 15 at 16:00 on the Zoom platform. Registration mandatory.
The key goal of the EU tax policy is to ensure the functioning of the single EU internal market – a territory without internal borders, in which the free movement of goods, people, services and capital is ensured.
The proper functioning of such a market depends, first of all, on an agreed policy of indirect taxation. Therefore, the European Commission coordinates and harmonizes legislation in this area. But the practical implementation of the EU Directives remains the responsibility of the EU member states.
Experts will examine and discuss the two main indirect taxes of the EU: VAT and excise duties, their legal framework established by the EU acquis, for a better understanding of the existing tax space and limitations.
