The Kremlin recommended that the heads of Russian regions visit the war zone with Ukraine “as publicly as possible” before the elections in September. The recommendation concerns the heads of regions, which are facing an election campaign. About this is written by the publication “Vyorstka” with reference to anonymous sources close to the authorities of Moscow and another, unnamed, region.
This fall, direct elections of heads of 20 regions will be held in Russia, one more will be approved by the regional parliament, in addition, voting will be held in the annexed territories of Ukraine. “Vyorstka” drew attention to the fact that eight out of twenty governors, who are facing elections, went to the conflict zone last year, seven of them went to the front in December.
Moscow Mayor Sergey Sobyanin was the first to go to the war zone in December. On December 2, photos in the trenches appeared in his Telegram channel. He declared that he was helping to “equip” defensive lines.
In the second half of December, four governors went to the front with a few differences: Dmitry Azarov of the Samara region, Stanislav Voskresensky of the Ivanovo region, Vasily Orlov of the Amur region, Andriy Klychkov of the Orlov region, as well as the heads of the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous District and Primorye: Dmitry Artyukhov and Oleg Everyone For the latter, it was already the sixth trip since the beginning of the war. The others went there for the first time. How close they actually were to the front – the publication does not specify.
