Financier William Browder agrees to create “Saakashvili’s list”

The famous international financier and investor William (Bill) Browder responded to the letter of ex-president of Georgia Mikheil Saakashvili with a request to save his life. This was reported by Saakashvili’s lawyer Shalva Khachapuridze at the next session of the Tbilisi Court on the suspended sentence and temporary sending of the ex-president for treatment to the European Clinic.

As Khachapuridze told, in his message Mikhail Saakashvili complained that he was being “killed in prison by the same methods as Sergey Magnitsky” and even “even more sophisticatedly and publicly”, so the former head of Georgia asked Browder to “help local human rights groups in creating a new “The Magnitsky List” without waiting for a fatal outcome.

Mikhail Saakashvili’s mother, Professor Hyula Alasania, told journalists that Bill Browder “immediately got involved in the case” and “asked to send him a list of all those guilty of Saakashvili’s poisoning, as well as his torture.” Browder promises to hand over the list of culprits to Western governments, possibly for the imposition of sanctions.

The news about the correspondence between Browder and Saakashvili appeared during the court session, at which Khachapuridze’s lawyer insisted on sending the former president to a European hospital for treatment of severe mental and neurological diseases. American neurologist Shahin Emanuel Lakhin, invited by the defense, confirmed at the court session that Saakashvili suffers from “atypical dementia” and that it is impossible to cure such a serious patient in Georgia, according to him.
