Kryvyi Rih mining and metallurgical plant PJSC “ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih” (Dnipropetrovsk region) in connection with problems with providing the enterprise with technical water after the Russian occupiers blew up the Kakhovskaya HPP dam announced a reduction in production by half.

Mauro Longobardo informs about this with reference to the general director of “ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih” (AMKR) “Interfax-Ukraine”.

“We have not yet seen the stabilization of the water level in the Dnipro – every day there is a decrease in the level, and we do not expect everything to return to the previous level soon,” he said.

According to him, if the enterprise worked at 30-40% of the pre-war level on the eve of the dam explosion, now it is forced to reduce production to 15-20%.

“And we don’t see an opportunity to get more orders right now,” Mauro Longobardo said.

According to him, the company focused on providing the company with water from alternative sources. But it will take at least six months.

“To start using water from other reservoirs, it will take time – we will need it pump stations That is, it is about half a year at least. Some preparatory work is already underway,” he said.

Such a significant drop in the level of water consumption occurred due to a decrease in its pressure, which was applied due to the need to save water in the Southern Reservoir, thanks to which the water needs of 70% of the townspeople in Kryvyi Rih are also provided, ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih reports.

In order to adapt to these conditions, the company was forced to stop some units. In particular, the production of steel and rolled products.

In the company’s mining department, the situation is better due to the fact that technical water is used in a closed circuit.

At the same time, according to Mauro Longobardo, although customers are worried, they understand the situation, and assured that thanks to the available stocks, the company will fulfill all current orders.
