As part of the joint charity initiative of Kyivstar and the “Return Alive” fund, a collection is underway for the provision of demining equipment for 146 engineering and demining groups of the Support Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Currently, UAH 110 million has been accumulated for the project, and 51 sapper groups have already been equipped with the necessary transport and equipment.

Modern demining equipment and new pickup trucks, which the military will receive, should ensure the lives of defenders engaged in demining and accelerate the liberation of the territory of Ukraine and its water areas from the legacy of war and occupation, which is dangerous for people.

“Our sappers work in the de-occupied territories and at the front. Last year, together with our comrades, we demined the liberated Kharkiv region, then there was a rotation in Bakhmut in Donetsk region, now we are working in the Kupyansk direction.

Therefore, reliable transport is extremely important for us. This gives us the opportunity to quickly reach the areas where the tasks are being carried out, get out of the shelling and evacuate the wounded,” says Yulia “Romashka”, the commander of the sapper division.

30% of the territory of Ukraine, equal to half the area of Germany, is mined. The lives of almost 6 million Ukrainians are at risk. Currently, humanitarian demining is one of the country’s most important national priorities.

“We invest in the future of Ukraine every day. Making our cities safe for life is one of Kyivstar’s priorities, and we do this both through the services we provide and through the initiatives we support,” said Oleksandr Komarov, CEO of Kyivstar.

“I am happy that so far we have been able to collect more than 100 million hryvnias for demining. I thank all those who care, our customers and employees of Kyivstar who have contributed, and I look forward not only to the next milestone of this campaign, but also to the safe return of our compatriots to demined areas territories”.
