“Wild paratrooper” from Novorossiysk was convicted of discrediting the army

The Primorsky District Court of Novorossiysk found the author of the YouTube channel “Wild Paratrooper” Ashabaly Alibekov guilty under the article of “repeated discrediting of the armed forces of Russia” and sentenced him to one year and two months of imprisonment in a high-security colony. This is reported by “OVD-Info” with reference to Alibekov’s lawyer Maryna Dubrovyna.

The appointed term of imprisonment is two months less than requested by the prosecutor’s office. Earlier, Alibekov applied for the case to be considered in a special order, which provides for a plea of ​​guilty and a waiver of the judicial investigation in exchange for a milder punishment, since, according to his wife, “he was disappointed in the judicial system of Russia and understands that he will be imprisoned in any case “. The court, however, considered that the accused does not sincerely repent, therefore rejected the petition.

A criminal case against Alibekov was initiated in September of last year due to videos with anti-military statements, after he was twice prosecuted under the administrative article on “discrediting the army”. Initially, he was given a restraining order in the form of a ban on certain actions, but when the police tried to force Alibekov to wear a bracelet to track his movements, he refused. On September 29, he was sent to a pre-trial detention center – in court, he stated that he was not allowed to communicate with other detainees and was not provided with medical assistance.

• Ashabaly Alibekov, a native of Dagestan, is 51 years old. He is a former commander of a detachment of a military unit of the Black Sea Fleet of Russia. Alibekov lives in Novorossiysk. At the beginning of the second Chechen war, he joined the reconnaissance of the special forces of the internal troops, in total he stayed in the combat zone for nine months.
• For the first time, the mass media wrote about him in connection with a mass brawl in 2007, in which one Chechen student died, and another was wounded by a policeman. At that time, Alibekov advocated the investigation of these criminals, demanded that the Ministry of Internal Affairs officers be punished.
• In 2018, Alibekov, as a contractor of the Black Sea Fleet base in Novorossiysk, recorded a video with a sharp appeal to Vladimir Putin, in which he called on the president to “leave Russia alone” and accused him of “tearing (Stravlivaet. – Approx. ed.) our soldiers with the Ukrainian people”.
