After the anti-war statement of the founder of “Yandex” Arkady Volozh, the parent company – the Dutch holding Yandex NV – may not receive 150 million dollars from the Russian “daughter”. This is reported by Frank Media with reference to sources.

According to the interlocutors of the publication, in early August, the Russian government practically completed negotiations with the owners of “Yandex” on the calculations for the division of the company’s assets into Russian and international ones. It was assumed that in the course of the transaction, the Russian “Yandex” will pay Yandex NV, which will develop international projects, about 250 million dollars, sources say. Because of Volozh’s statement, the negotiations were stopped for a month and a half.

According to one of Frank Media’s sources, the Ministry of Digital Development of Russia announced that it had agreed with Yandex on new terms of the transaction with a smaller amount. Now the amount of payment, as it is confirmed, has been reduced by almost a third – to 70-80 million dollars. The interlocutor added that the transaction is currently being processed.

The Russian Ministry of Finance, as well as representatives of Yandex and Volozh, did not respond to Frank Media’s request.

  • Arkady Volozh made an anti-war statement on August 10. The businessman expressed his disagreement with the policy of the Russian authorities in relation to Ukraine and said that since February 2022 he has no relationship with Yandex. The entrepreneur writes that he has been living in Israel since 2014 and is engaged in supporting IT specialists who left Russia after the start of the war.
  • Now Volozh, who was born in Atyrau, prefers to call himself an “Israeli businessman of Kazakh origin”, omitting the period of his life and work in Russia.
