Video hosting YouTube has blocked the investigation of Alexei Navalny’s team, according to which the owner of the Scheherazade yacht arrested in Italy is Russian President Vladimir Putin.
In the notice received by Navalny’s associates, it is indicated that the video violates YouTube’s rule “regarding harassment.” In this regard, the hosting administration requires “all confidential information” to be removed from the video.
Previously, YouTube had already blocked several investigations made by the Russian opposition, however, after the investigations, it restored access to them.
In the spring of last year, Navalny’s team published an investigation, according to which the Scheherazade yacht, parked off the coast of the Italian seaside resort of Marina di Carrara, belongs to Vladimir Putin. Investigators estimated its value at 700 million euros. Later, the “Dossier” publication conducted its own investigation and announced the second amount spent on the construction of the vessel – 583 million euros.
In May 2022, the yacht was arrested by the Italian government. It was reported that the financial police established “the presence of significant economic and business ties of the beneficial owner of Scheherazade with prominent representatives of the Russian government.”
In September of this year, “Scheherazade” was launched. According to Maria Pevchy, head of the International Anti-Corruption Foundation, after the yacht was “frozen” thanks to the investigation of Navalny’s team, someone repaired it and paid, in Pevchy’s words, “millions of euros” for it. In addition, the Russian crew of the vessel, whose members, according to investigators, are connected to the Federal Security Service, were not fired and are still receiving salaries.
