The group “DDT” and its leader Yury Shevchuk released a new anti-war video clip. The song “Pokhorony voyny” was written to Shevchuk’s poem, he created the music together with producer and composer Dmitry Emelyanov. Emelyanov acted as Shevchuk’s co-author in his last anti-war video “Family, come home”.
Shevchuk calls on his listeners to unite and together with the whole world “arrange a war funeral.”
- Yury Shevchuk repeatedly spoke out against the war in Ukraine. He consistently takes a pacifist position and opposed any wars, including military actions in Chechnya, South Ossetia and everywhere in the world.
- In 2022, Shevchuk was fined 50,000 rubles, found guilty of discrediting the actions of the Russian army. The reason for the fine was an anti-war statement he made in May at a concert in Ufa. Concerts of his group “DDT” in Russia after the start of the war in Ukraine were often postponed or canceled “for technical reasons”.
