Meta founder and CEO Mark Zuckerberg’s net worth jumped $12.5 billion on Thursday, marking his biggest one-day gain.
It is reported Bloomberg.
Zuckerberg is recovering from the worst year ever for his business, which saw his fortune fall from a peak of $142 billion in September 2021. It has had several daily ups and downs in 2022, losing $31 billion in a day in February, then making $11 billion in April, and losing another $11 billion in October after another disappointing Meta earnings report.
Zuckerberg’s fortune is now $69.8 billion, making him the 13th richest person in the world, according to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index. He surpassed, among other billionaires, an Indian Gautama Adani.
Investors rejoiced after Meta’s latest financial results. Specifically, Zuckerberg said that the November cut of 11,000 jobs, or 13% of the workforce, was “just the beginning” of his optimization plans.
The company also won a lawsuit against the Federal Trade Commission this week to block the company’s buyout of a virtual reality startup.
Shares of Meta rose 23.3% on Thursday, joining a number of other technology companies whose shares have soared.
