Bribe for 722 million. NABU completed the investigation against the ex-head of the tax service Nasirov

The National Anti-Corruption Bureau has completed an investigation into one of the most high-profile corruption cases last year — about possible bribery in the amount of UAH 722 million by the former head of the State Fiscal Service, Roman Nasyrov. This is stated on the NABU website.

On February 2, the defense of Nasirov and the second suspect (his former advisor) opened the case materials for review.
NABU believes that Nasirov received $5.5 million for ensuring the reimbursement of more than UAH 540 million to the companies of one of the Ukrainian agricultural holdings in August 2015 and over EUR 21 million for the reimbursement of almost 2.7 billion VAT during February 2015 – August 2016.
According to the report, the head of the GFS at the time prioritized VAT refunds for agricultural companies involved in the investigation and did not approve the same applications from other market participants, including utilities.

The ex-official allegedly received money for the “service” on the accounts of his foreign firm and a number of related companies. The case has been investigated since 2017, according to NABU.
As for the owner of the agricultural holding, who allegedly gave money to Nasirov, the materials regarding him have been allocated to a separate proceeding, the investigation is ongoing.
The name of the agricultural holding was not specified in the NABU statement, but it is already known that it is the company of one of the largest egg producers in Ukraine, Oleg Bakhmatyuk, who owns the UkrLendFarming agricultural holding.
