What limitations remain in patients after hepatitis A? Cousin answered

An outbreak of hepatitis A was recorded in Vinnytsia region, and isolated cases in some regions. Previously, we explained how to recognize hepatitis A and who should be vaccinated.

Now, in an interview with RBC-Ukraine, the chief state sanitary doctor of Ukraine, Ihor Kuzin, told what limitations remain for people who have contracted hepatitis A after recovery.

First of all, according to the doctor, the restriction will apply to donation (but it is not lifelong).

“A person who contracted viral hepatitis A, at least one year cannot be included in the donation, because it is an acute infectious disease.” – said Igor Kuzin.

The second limitation stems from the fact that any hepatitis is a liver injury. So, after recovery, a person needs a diet.

“After suffering a disease, a person is forced to follow a special dietary regime for several years, because the function of the liver is restored rather slowly.

Therefore, in fact, these two restrictions remain for a certain period of time, but sooner or later the person returns to a normal diet.”– explained Kuzin.

We will remind you that an outbreak of hepatitis A was recorded in Vinnytsia region in October. The source of the infection is still being established.

As of November 12, according to the Vinnytsia Regional Center for Disease Control and Prevention, 320 cases of infection have already been recorded in the Vinnytsia Region. 267 of them are laboratory confirmed. There are 39 children among the patients.

In Vinnytsia region, 699 people were vaccinated against viral hepatitis A. There are 648 medical workers, 51 contact persons, 6 of them are children.
