The police detained a 35-year-old local man who is suspected of raping a minor. For what he committed, he faces from 7 to 12 years of imprisonment.

As reported by the press service of the police of the Rivne region, on February 16, the court granted the request of the investigator and sent the suspect to the pre-trial detention center for 60 days.

According to law enforcement officials, a resident of Rivne met a 15-year-old student on one of the websites. They chatted online for some time, and on February 14 they agreed to meet.

“The man, who knew for sure about the girl’s young age, first drove her around the city in a car, and then drove to a deserted place. There, despite the child’s resistance, he raped her and took her home“, the message says.

The victim told everything to her mother, who immediately informed the police about it.

Due to the state of shock, the victim could not clearly describe either the vehicle or the perpetrator, the police say.

During the night, operatives searched for the intruder. He was detained at his place of residence in Rivne.

Investigators informed the man of suspicion under part 3 of Article 152 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (rape of a minor).

It will be recalled that the pre-trial investigation in the case of sexual violence against a 12-year-old girl was completed in the Rivne region. According to the investigation, it was committed by the founder of a religious organization.
