A criminal case about “fakes” was initiated against the politician Dmitry Hudkov

A criminal case has been initiated against the opposition politician, former member of the State Duma, Dmitry Hudkov, for the so-called fakes about the Russian army. This was confirmed by Hudkov himself, who posted photos of the decision to initiate the case on social networks.

The reason was a video entitled “What did Putin’s war in Ukraine lead to?”, which the ex-deputy published on his YouTube channel in April 2022. In it, he talked about the destruction of residential buildings and civil infrastructure in Ukraine by the Russian army, as well as the mass murders of civilians by the Russian military in Buch, Irpen, and Borodyanka.

“This is how they become criminals in Russia. I succumbed to someone’s provocation (by the way, whose?), I believed that the Russian army could kill civilians. How could I. My career is dizzying, of course. Finally, I an authoritative deputy,” commented Gudkov.

According to the article about “fakes about the army”, he may face up to 10 years in prison.

• Dmitry Gudkov was a member of the State Duma in 2011-2016. He ran for the “Just Russia” party, but was expelled from it in 2013. In 2021, he left Russia. After the beginning of Russia’s military invasion of Ukraine, he sharply condemned it. He is a member of the Anti-War Committee of Russia.
