A maintenance center for “Leopard” tanks will be created in Poland

Germany, Poland and Ukraine signed an agreement on the creation of a center in Poland for the maintenance of German Leopard tanks. About this reported Minister of Defense of Ukraine Oleksiy Reznikov following the meeting at the Ramstein military base in Germany.

The decision to supply heavy equipment, primarily tanks (German Leopards, British Challengers, and American Abrams) was made by Western countries at the beginning of this year. Ukrainian tankers undergo training courses in handling these machines in different countries, primarily in Poland.

The head of the foreign policy department of the European Union, Josep Borrell, also stated, that since February 9, Ukraine has been supplied with 66% of the shells provided for in the first half of the EU-approved plan for joint financing of ammunition purchases for Ukrainian troops. On words Borrell, 16,000 of the planned 30,000 Ukrainian soldiers have already completed training in Western countries. The total amount of weapons supplied to Ukraine from EU countries reached 600 million euros out of the promised 2 billion euros.

Earlier on Friday, it became known that the USA will start training the Ukrainian military on Abrams tanks in the coming weeks. The training will take place at the Grafenwohr military base in Germany and will last 10 weeks. The USA intends to transfer 31 “Abrams” to the base by the end of May.
