In St. Petersburg, the military parade on Dvortsova Square in honor of the 80th anniversary of the lifting of the blockade of Leningrad was canceled. It was supposed to take place on January 27, 2024. This was reported by the city governor Alexander Beglov.
The Ministry of Defense of Russia appealed to the city authorities to cancel the event. It is not specified what this is related to. Instead of a parade, an exhibition of old military equipment will be held on Dvortsova Square.
The city authorities announced that 130 events were planned for the 80th anniversary of the lifting of the blockade of Leningrad. Veterans and blockaders must receive one-time payments from the city budget.
